Tips for helping with Memory
First, READ THE VERSE or have someone read it to you. Next, make sure you understand the verse. Try saying the verse a few times without looking. Ask someone to quiz you on the verse. Break it up: Rewrite the verse in sections. Look for patterns in the verse like repeated words, alliteration, repeated thoughts, or contrasts. Look for the key words in the verse and try learning those first.
Try to close your eyes and picture the verse.
Write the verse a few times.
Make a recording of yourself saying the verse several times and then listen to it over and over, especially as you are falling asleep.
Many verses have a song like quality. Try putting the verse to music. Try singing the verse to yourself.
Look at the verse right before class or even right before you say it to your teacher. If you get stuck, ask the teacher for the next word, the rest of the verse may come to you. If you need to close your eyes to picture the verse, go ahead and do that.
Keep your memory assignments is a specific place. It is helpful to put your memory assignments in a strong magnetic clip and keep them right on the refrigerator.
Do memory verses as a family. Teach your memory verses to your siblings. Learn them with your parents, see who learns them first.
