In order for students to receive First Communion at St Paul the following requirements must be met.
Student will have completed all course work, including memory, tests, quizzes, workbook and any addition assignments.
Students will have completed at least one service project and turned in a Service Project Report.
Students will have written an essay to be eligible for a First Communion interview. Students, who have not turned in an essay, by the interview date, will not be interviewed and therefore will not be eligible to receive First Communion. They will be able to submit an essay and have an interview the following spring.
Students will be interviewed by representatives of the Confirmation Committee. There will then be three possible outcomes
A letter will be sent home inviting the students and their families to First Communion and their essays will be displayed.
A letter will be sent home inviting the students and their families to First Communion, but the students will be asked to revise their essays before they can be displayed.
Parents will be called to let them know that their student will need to wait and try again next year. A representative from the Confirmation Committee will make these calls.
First Communion will take place the weekend prior to Confirmation Sunday each year.
Students will be invited to attend one or both services.
There will be a cake and celebration during the Gathering Hour on First Communion Sunday.
Students will go up front for their First Communion with their families.
We will display the students’ essays and possibly their pictures.
NOTE: Students do not have to receive their First Communion to move on to Part II of the confirmation program.
