Discipline Policy

 

 

At Will

 

St Paul’s Confirmation Program is an At Will program. Students choose to participate at their own will and at the will of their parents. Students, along with their parents, can choose to leave the program at anytime. Teachers, along with the Confirmation Committee, can at anytime ask a student to withdraw from the program.

 

Disciplinary action will be taken in the following circumstances

• Failure to meet class requirements
• Failure to complete class assignments
• Failure to show respect for others and their property
• Failure to participate appropriately in class discussion and classroom activities

 

Disciplinary steps to be taken by the teacher

• First offence  – Students will be given a verbal warning
• Second offence – Students will be given a written note to take home to parents, it must be signed and returned at the next class. If the note is not returned, then the teacher will call and speak with the parents.
• Third offence – Parents will be asked to come in with the student to meet with the teacher and at least one representative from the Confirmation Committee. It will be decided at this time, if the student should continue in the program.

 

Students will be automatically withdrawn from the program for the following reasons:

• Absent from three consecutive weeks of classes.
• Serious offences or misconduct

 

 

Reapplying for the Program

 

Students are welcome to re-apply for the Confirmation Program, by filling out a Reapplication form and completing a readmission interview with the teacher and representative from the Confirmation committee. Each case will be decided individually.

St Paul offers a 3 year comprehensive Confirmation course for anyone interested in confirming their Baptism and joining the Lutheran church. Applicants should understand that participation in class and completion of all class assignments is required to advance through the program and to actually be confirmed.
